Another small but nice touch was the variety of chilled fruit waters that they had on the dock to welcome guests back to the ship, particularly nice after a hot day in the sun. All these little touches add up, making you feel pampered and appreciated. During the day, I frequented the buffet for breakfast and lunch. I enjoyed the salad selection at lunchtime, including fresh pita with beet hummus. I enjoyed the food, but some people commented on the lack of variety. Apparently, the ship had recently downsized the offerings due to a smaller number of passengers eating in the evening hours.
Five incredible port stops that included some of the farthest islands south in the Caribbean, including Grenada. One of the ship's highlights is Café al Bacio, a French café with mouth-watering pastries and great coffee. Pastries were complimentary, but specialty coffees were extra.
For typical cruise entertainment fare, enjoy the twice-nightly acts in Equinox Theatre, that are performed shortly after dinner seatings. In addition to the produced onboard shows, well-respected headlining acts include guest singers and musicians, magicians and theatrical productions. A quiet refuge by day for gazing over the sea with a cocktail at hand.
AquaClass cruisers also enjoy access to a spa concierge and unlimited access to the Persian Garden, the spa’s area for steam rooms, saunas and more. The two fee-free venues on offer are The Silhouette Restaurant - Main Dining Room, and the Oceanview Cafe lido deck buffet. There is a second dining room, The Blu, exclusively for use by suite and AquaClass passengers. Added-fee specialty options open to all paying guests on Equinox include the Italian/American Tuscan Grille, the continental Murano Restaurant, and the pan-Asian Silk Harvest. More informal restaurants include the Cafe al Bacio, Bistro on Five, Gelateria, Mast Grill, and AquaSpa Cafe.
At night, the space comes to life with live music and dancing. In addition, special interactive theme parties include Live&Sky-music and dances of the 40s with a modern twist-and Motown, featuring funky soul with a live band, singers and dancers. Launched in 2009, the Solstice-class Celebrity Equinox cruise ship has, for the most part, managed to stay fresh and modern. This cruise was an incredible deal for me and was a different kind of cruise experience. There are no waterslides, arcades, waterparks or other activities many people expect on big cruise ships. There is a kids club, but on my sailing, I only saw three kids.
As mentioned, there are 1,426 staterooms on the ship, and 85% of those staterooms come with a veranda. Only 10%of those staterooms are interior staterooms, and the other 5% of the staterooms are ocean view.
